Dr. Ellen Unterwald, Dr. Toby Eisenstein
Ellen Unterwald, PhD, is a Professor of Pharmacology and Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Research, an interdisciplinary NIH funded center that conducts research on drugs of abuse and the consequences of their use, whether abused or therapeutic, at Temple University. Toby K. Eisenstein, PhD, is a Professor in Microbiology and Immunology and Co-Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Research. They share their perspectives on the work of the center and importance of substance abuse research for Temple and the Philadelphia community in this video.
Dr. Joyce Joyce
Joyce A. Joyce, Ph.D., a Professor in the Department of English is a nationally recognized scholar in black literary criticism. Among her achievements are an American Book Award for Literary Criticism for her collection of essays Warriors, Conjurers, and Priests: Defining African-centered Literary Criticism, and authorship of numerous other books, including: Richard Wright's Art of Tragedy, Ijala: Sonia Sanchez and the African Poetic Tradition, and Black Studies as Human Studies: Critical Essays and Interviews. She shares her perspectives on her educational foundations and career development in this video.
